Road Trip!

Vaughn’s Excellent Adventure at the Volvo-Cannondale Training Camp

Many DP readers have requested that we cover mtn biking. So it is only natural that the Daily Peloton start at the top with the #1 Pro Mtn. Bike team in the world – Volvo Cannondale. Volvo-Cannondale Team Manager Eric Wallace invited the Daily Peloton to their training camp in Sedona, Arizona so that we could spend some time with the team and find out about Volvo-Cannondale.

So here is the first of several stories about the Volvo-Cannondale Training Camp.

We stayed at the Hilton Sedona Resort and Spa, a beautiful hotel set against the backdrop of red rock buttes in the northern Arizona desert.

Friday morning after a quick breakfast, we met behind the hotel with the mechanics, the soigneur, Stephanie Graham, and members of team for the morning ride. The team was joined on the ride by local riders as well as some riders who came to Sedona on vacation, found the V-C team there and were lucky enough to join in on a ride. I talked briefly with Stephanie and the mechanics, but passed on the ride. Instead I went over to the Bike & Bean bike shop, met Craig, Chad and Dave, who ended up making me quite a few excellent café lattes during my stay.
