Chickamauga is a friendly town nestled in the Appalachian
foothills in the Northwestern corner of Georgia. Chickamauga is often referred
to as the "Mayberry" of Georgia, a moniker the town strives to maintain and
encourage. Chickamauga has a rich and turbulent history, from the original
Cherokee Indian settlements in the late 1700's to the two-day Battle of
Chickamauga in September 1863 during the Civil War. Attractions such as Civil
War battlefield sites, natural springs, and Lookout Mountain are all located in
the area.
Chattanooga, the fourth largest city in Tennessee, is located in
Southeast Tennessee near the border of Georgia at the junction of four
interstate highways. The city has received national recognition for the
renaissance of its beautiful downtown and the redevelopment of its water front.
Chattanooga also offers one of the widest varieties of outdoor recreation
activities in the country including: rock climbing, mountain biking, hang
gliding, caving and whitewater rafting. Attractions such as the Tennessee
Aquarium, Civil War battlefield sites, the African American Museum, the Creative
Discovery Museum, IMAX Theater, Rock City and Ruby Falls bring thousands of
people to the area, as do a host of other events, attractions, and festivals.
