Post Danmark Rundt XVII
The
tour started in 1985 when Moreno Argentin of Italy was the first winner in 1988
the Danish tour was won by Phil Anderson of Australia and then was suspended
until 1995. The race returned in 1995 when Bjarne Riis was the victor. (Winners
list below.)
Last year saw le Tour sensation Ivan Basso (CSC) take the top podium step at
the finish. In 2005, it looked to be an all Italian affair with Basso dominating
by winning 4 stages and the G.C. with compatriot Paride Grillo (Panaria)
winning stage 4, in the final stage Andre Greipel, (Wiesenhof) quelled the
Italian parade.
The presenters were quick to note that Basso is on the schedule to return to
defend his championship.
