About Ryan Barrett:
Despite being under 30 years old, Ryan Barrett has over 20 years of racing
and coaching experience. A self-proclaimed "lifer", Ryan has coached riders to
state championship medals and category upgrades, and has assisted at a USA
Cycling Collegiate Women’s Camp. The bulk of his coaching experience has been
with licensed junior and senior riders, but Ryan works with anyone who is
interested in improving their cycling.
Ryan has raced with the Schroeder Iron and
NetZero professional teams, as
well as the US National Team, and competed in many of America’s most prestigious
races including the T-Mobile International/San Francisco Grand Prix, First Union
USPRO Championships, USPro Criterium Championships, Redlands Cycling Classic,
Cascade Cycling Classic, and many more. Ryan was featured in the full-length
documentary “The Hard Road” about the NetZero team, is still an active Category
1 racer, and is the current Utah State Road Race Champion.

Ryan was raised in Richmond, VA and began his lifelong obsession with bike
racing at the local BMX tracks at the age of four. At age 12, Ryan moved on to
road bikes, which would eventually lead him to Marian College in Indianapolis,
IN. At Marian, Ryan received a scholarship for racing in each year of
attendance, and was named an NCCA All-American.
Ryan was also lucky enough to meet his wife Kelly (also a scholarship
cyclist) at Marian. Ryan and Kelly moved to Kelly’s hometown of Long Beach, CA
after graduating in 2000. Ryan raced professionally from 2001-2003 before moving
to Provo, UT in the fall of 2003. Ryan and Kelly have a young daughter named
Haley, and are expecting another bundle of joy in July.
Ryan Barrett is a USA Cycling Certified Coach with over twenty years
experience racing road, track, mountain, and BMX. He has raced with the
Schroeder Iron and NetZero Professional teams, as well as the US National Team.
