Amgen Tour of California Stage 1

Young Guns Jackson Stewart (KodakGallery.com/Sierra Nevada 25) and Jean Marc Marino (Credi Agricole 22) were caught by the peloton at the entrance to the circuit in Santa Rosa with only 3 laps to go the teams went to the front to secure a good position for their sprinters.
Gerolsteiner led the peloton with 5 riders at the front in the with three laps of the circuit to go intent on keeping Santa Rosa home town lad Levi Leipheimer in Gold.

With two laps to go it was the a blue led peloton with Navigators leading the rabid pace with Gerolsteiner's blue clad water boys in close attendance. Finishing up the 2nd lap,  with one to go it was Gerolsteiner , Discovery and Navigators' Blues leading the charge for the finish.

Juan Jose Haedo is first to the line in a photo finish. Toyota/United Pro wins their first road triumph in their first race of the year, an auspicious start to the for the lads led by Frankie Andreu.
Second is T-Mobile's veteran Olaf Pollack.
Third after the judges viewed the finish video; Stuart Ogrady of Australia.
