T-Mobile Women's Cycling Team is set to launch their season Down Under in the at the Geelong Tour in Oz, and the first leg of the World Cup races in Wellington and Tour of New Zealand.

Women's team to kick off season “down under”
The waiting is nearly over: The T-Mobile women's team kicks off the 2006 racing season at high profile events in Australia and New Zealand.

The squad, including four-time USA champion Kimberly Baldwin and 2004 World Champ Judith Arndt from Germany, face a busy program down under: Their first race is the Geelong Tour in Australia from February 21-23.

This is followed on February 26 by the first of 12 Events in this year World Cup series, also in Geelong. Afterwards the athletes move on to New Zealand, where they compete at the Tour of New Zealand (March 1-3) and the subsequent New Zealand leg of the World Cup (March 5).

“It will be a big challenge", said sporting director Andrzej Bek. "It's summertime in the southern hemisphere and the Australians are in excellent form. With the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne following shortly after these races, the competition will be very strong and in peak fitness".

Captain and ten-time German Champion Ina-Yoko Teutenberg remained confident: "It's the first race of the new T-Mobile Team, we are motivated and ready to race together as a team!" The T-Mobile line-up is rounded out by four-time Canadian Champion Lyne Bessette, her compatriot Amy Moore and 2005 French National Champ Magali Le Floch.

Das Warten hat ein Ende: Das T-Mobile Frauenteam startet in der kommenden Woche bei hochkarätigen Veranstaltungen in Australien und Neuseeland in seine erste Rennsaison.
Das Aufgebot, darunter die vierfache US-Meisterin Kimberly Baldwin, und Judith Arndt, Weltmeisterin von 2004 aus Deutschland, erwartet "Down Under" ein volles Programm: Den Saisonauftakt bestreitet die Mannschaft vom 21. bis 23. Februar bei der Geloong-Tour in Australien, wo auch das erste von zwölf Weltcup-Rennen in diesem Jahr starten wird (26. Februar). Anschließend reisen die Frauen weiter nach Neuseeland - dort hat das Team für die Neuseeland-Rundfahrt (1. bis 3. März) und das Weltcup-Rennen (5. März) gemeldet.
„Das wird eine große Herausforderung", sagte Sportdirektor Andrzej Bek. „Es ist Sommer auf der südlichen Halbkugel und die Australier sind in exzellenter Form. Gleich nach diesen Rennen beginnen die Commonwealth Spiele in Melbourne - da wird sich die Konkurrenz stark und absolut fit präsentieren."
Mit großem Selbstvertrauen blickt die zehnfache Deutsche Meisterin Ina-Yoko Teutenberg der Saisonpremiere entgegen: „Es ist das erste Rennen für das neue T-Mobile Team. Wir sind motiviert und bereit, gemeinsam als Team anzutreten!"
Komplettiert wird das Magenta-Aufgebot von der viermaligen Kanadischen Meisterin Lyne Bessette, ihrer Landsfrau Amy Moore und der französischen Meisterin von 2005, Magali Le Floch.
