After several delays, reportedly due to a matter of TV rights, the 88th "Giro Ciclistico d’Italia" has been officially presented at Milan’s Mazda Palace this Saturday afternoon. With new race boss Angelo Zomegnan, a former Gazzetta dello Sport journalist who replaced Neapolitan lawyer Carmine Castellano, and many other top personalities of the Italian cycling scene attending, the route and details of the first Grand Tour of the season, running from May 07-29, have been revealed.
The "Corsa Rosa" has no more secrets. Certainly not for our site, which dedicates a special report to the event. With the full list of stages, and a first route overview, plus all main difficulties and profiles of the main climbs. You can also find out what many of the most likely protagonists of the contest had to say about the parcours in our detailed interviews round-up, and get to know "everything you always want to know about the Giro and never dared to ask" in the historic-statistic section, with plenty of details and tidbits, from the full list of winners of each jersey since they were introduced, to anecdotes and historic tidbits, to details on the participating teams as well as the bonus time and point-awarding rules, and more and more stuff. Also links to news and results of the most recent editions of Italy's number one cycling event are available down in the page.
And stay tuned for our upcoming feature: a more detailed overview of the parcours, a stage-by-stage guide to the 88th Giro Ciclistico d’Italia, coming here in the next days!!
