On Monday the complete Quick-Step
squad was presented to the press at the Hotel El Parador, Waregem Belgium.
After a short look back at 2004, Manager
Patrick Lefevere was very clear about this season. “We are a team that
specializes in one day races. But
we can do also something in stage races, with Michael Rogers (who aims a top 10
place in the Tour de France)."
"We have invested a lot in young riders.
We will try hard to do as well as last season, we have
the Olympic champion Paolo Bettini, Tom Boonen, who
had a fantastic season, Italian champion Cristian Moreni and so on…

"We will try to win from the beginning
and I hope our riders will be in front as much as they can.”
Lefevere made comments on a
few riders of the team:
Paolo Bettini:
“He won the World Cup three times, and is Olympic champion. That’s no coincidence.”

Michael Rogers:
“In 2004 he had a viral infection and wasn’t so good as in
2003. We are confident in him, now he’s already in good shape.”

Nick Nuyens:
“He represent the younger generation! He’s important for the future of the
team.”

Tom Boonen:
“24 victories in one year, a difficult mission to do as well as last season. But
for us, it isn’t important how many races you win, but which ones.”
Dimitri De Fauw:
“A fast man in the sprint. Tom (Boonen) can do only one race
at the time, so [there are] enough opportunities for Dimitri to sprint.”

Filippo Pozzato:
“He has everything going for him, the looks, a lot of talent!”
