After the end of the 87th Giro d’Italia, it’s criterium time in Italy. The
stars of the "Corsa Rosa" peloton (with Australian Scott Davis of Panaria as only
English-speaker) competed in several kermesses and "small" races, held in the
northern part of the country. The first one was the Criterium di Arona-GP
Formaggi Guffanti, which took place Monday in the Piedmontese town on the
Lake Maggiore shores. Then came Tuesday’s Criterium di Broni, organized by
former professional rider, and 1994 Giro winner Eugeni Berzin, and now in its
sixth edition. Wednesday saw the hat-trick completed by the Gran Premio
SBS, a cronoscalata (Uphill ITT) to the top
of the Mottarone ascent, back into Piedmont.
Similar events will be running in days to come, from the Memorial
Marco Pantani at Cesenatico (Saturday, June 05) to the traditional Circuito
degli Assi at Fabio Casartelli's hometown Albese con Cassanio near Como
(Tuesday, June 08). But in the meantime, you can find in the links below the
reports and detailed results of all three events held this week.
