Here Comes More Cyclo-cross. National Championship Results

Below are cyclo-cross results from the National Championsips held in many European countries over the week-end: Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Britain, the Czech Republic and more.

Things went as expected in most races, with Spain’s strongest Cyclo-cross specialist David Seco claiming the title in his country. Gusty Bausch couldn’t get higher than third in Luxembourg, in a race won by Tom Flemmang.

Urban über alles in Germany, where Malte Urban got back to the top of the podium 4 years after his first win at the Nationals. It took just two years for Hanka Kuperfangel in the Elite Women class instead: the Queen of German cyclo-cross avenged the defeat she suffered at the hands of Birgit Hollmann in 2003, and took the National Champion Title back to Berlin as she won by almost two minutes.

No one could stop Alexandra Bähler and Simon Zahner in Switzerland, while Christian Heule won the duel against “Frischi” in the Elite Men Category. Ausbuher and Zlamalik won the “clashes of giants” in the Czech Republic, and there was no surprise at all in Poland.

As for the United Kingdom, Mr. Boomark-Collstrop’s Roger Hammond kept his unique double champion status (road and cross) by winning the National Cyclo-cross Championships at Sutton Park. And Louise Robinson continued the great family tradition by winning the Womens event.
