We are very excited to announce that a glorious era of American racing, The
Red Zinger and Coors International Bicycle Classic, can be re-lived on a vibrant
new DVD being produced in Boulder, Colorado, by Great American Bicycle Races,
LLC.
The amazing footage of the 1978 Red Zinger, won by George Mount and Keetie
van Oosten-Hage, along with the Jim McKay-narrated 1981 Coors Classic (which
featured a down-to-the-wire battle that pitted Greg Lemond and his over-matched
Renault/Elf/Gitane squad, against the world cycling power-house, the USSR!), are
just some of the highlights of the historic footage to be featured in the first
of 2 planned DVDs.
There will be extensive coverage from the early years of the race, as we
attempt to take a definitive look back at what was a very special time for
American road racing. Cool mountain air and breath-taking landscapes serve as
the backdrop for one of the greatest races ever held on American soil, so don’t
miss this opportunity to get your hands on this amazing piece of our cycling
history!
We are now taking pre-orders for the first DVD, “The Red Zinger and Coors
International Bicycle Classic, 1975-1981," and the special, pre-order price
is $14.95 (regularly $19.95), plus $4 for shipping and handling, in the USA.
A follow up DVD, "The Coors Classic, 1982-88," will include interviews
with some the major players from the race (Aisner, Phinney, Hampsten, McCormack,
Stetina and Keifel to name a few), and is being filmed next month in Boulder,
Colorado, with a high definition camera! We plan to be shipping the pre-ordered
DVDs by the end of January, 2004.
You can support this project by pre-ordering, and you should get your copy
now, as a limited amount of DVDs are being produced! If you would like, you can
pre-order both for $29.95.
To order, go to PayPal and send $18.95
(first DVD plus shipping) or $33.95 (both DVDs plus shipping) to
dtowle66@aol.com.
Thanks, and we hope you enjoy watching this DVD as much as we did making this
much-needed look back!
