World Champs: The Italian Team for Sunday's Race

Italy's National Team Coach Franco Ballerini finally made his decision and unveiled the names of the dozen riders who are going to get on their bikes on Sunday to defend the title won by Mario Cipollini AND the "Squadra Azzurra" last year in Zolder. Or at least give the nation the coveted first medal none has been able to grab in any of the seven races so far disputed.

And the former "Monsieur Roubaix" turned successful Team Manager had a big surprise in store: probably due to the man's excellent performance in Thursday's Time Trial, which proved his legs are in an excellent condition, Dario Frigo, reportedly selected only for the ITT, although Ballerini never explicitly ruled him out, will be racing Sunday's "big" race too.

Dario Frigo's surprising inclusion implied the exclusion of Sergio Barbero, the Lampre rider that will be just "watching" the race, along with the two other reserves, Vini Caldirola's Paolo Bossoni and Panaria's Luca Mazzanti.
