World Cup Round 9

Parcours

Despite its long history of being the “Sprinters' Classic” over the years, the organisers have added a succession of small hills towards the end of the race to give the breakaways and escapees a better chance.

The presence of the a côte de la Pagode de Chanteloup (km 200), the côte de Crochu (km 231), the côte de l'Epan (km 249), the côte du Pont Volant (km 252) and finally the côte du Petit Pas d'Ane (km 254), make it harder for the pure sprinters teams to chase the race down before the dramatic finish on the avenue de Grammont.

So whereas the parcours should be a sprinters' dream, riders such as Di Luca, Durand, Nardello, Rebellin, Vasseur and Voigt may well fancy their chances in a small escape.

Favourites

The bookmakers favour the pure fast men, with Bettini locked in tactical world cup battles and trying to avoid injury before the Worlds, the race could well end in a mad gallop down the avenue de Grammont.

Saeco Press Release

Saeco is looking for the “lucky strike”

Defending its supremacy in the World Team rankings

The Saeco Team will take part at the second-last race of the UCI World Cup, the Paris-Tours, trying to play once again a leading role. The first place in the provisional World Team ranking is an important incentive for the team since Saeco has been at the top of the rankings throughout the season but it didn't still catch the deserved success.

Martinelli’s men will try to get it in France with Igor Astarloa and Danilo Di Luca as team leaders, both of them partecipating at the Road World Championships in Canada where they will have a prominent role in their National Team. The Saeco Team will also have some other experienced riders such as Gerrit Glomser, Stefano Zanini (after their good performances at Giro della provincia di Lucca) and Fabio Sacchi. The Team will be completed by Alessio Galletti, Giosuè Bonomi and Alessandro Spezialetti.
