In a stage dominated by the fastest wheels of the peloton, with two Aussies fighting for the Green Jersey in the bunch sprint, can you figure a more appropriate outcome than the victory of a Virtual Team from OZ named "Sprinters Supreme" ??? Definitely not. The way Australian Melissa Cotterill clinched the last leg of the 3rd "Fabio's Fantasy Tour" was simply perfect. And represented the best possible tribute to the fastmen in the bunch that got to Paris. No Lance, Jan or USPS, this time the decisive points came from pure sprinters only, three of them being from Cotterill's Australia, and the other one being the surprising stage winner.

Indeed Jean-Patrick Nazon, Cooke, McEwen and "Stuey" gave Cotterill 83 points, and the second female win in this year's Fantasy Tour, after Nancy Miano's Stage 15 victory. It was also Australia's second triumph, Steven Johnson being the first winner thirteen stages before.

Cotterill did not win in a "bunch sprint" though, but by a 4-point margin over two Americans, Christopher Boshart and Mike Schoback. Both "Short Circuit" and "AT-LINK" earned 79 stage points, with a help from Armstrong and USPS, but without the decisive support from Cotterill's winning choice (in this stage at least), Robbie McEwen.

Then the "who posts first wins" Tie-breaking Rule awarded second place to Boshart, who hit the runner-up spot for the second time, twenty days after losing to Walt Armstrong in Stage 2. Schoback was consequently third.

Jean-Patrick Nazon gave precious points also to South African Gavin Linnett, who missed the stage podium as he got "only" 71 (the rest coming from Cooke, L.A. and USPS) points, but has now many chances to finish in the Top 3 Overall, even after the "extra-points", not part of any stage score, are awarded at the end of the last ride.

And behind "Khumbaya" ... look who's back: Harm Hanemaayer and Walt Armstrong. The two "main stars" of the Fantasy Tour's first half sealed their excellent Tour with another Top 10 placing: "The Visitors" snatched fifth getting 69 points, the same score Armstrong's bunch of sprinters earned sixth place finisher "Pommes de Couch". Another protagonist of the Fantasy Tour early stages, Norway's Hans Jacob Hofgaard, joined the party as he took ninth in the "sprinters festival".

A trio from Austria (Leo Ploner), Denmark (Keld Haagensen, this time not as strong as overall contender as in past DP's Fantasy Games) and Canada (Paul Blatter and his funny-named "David Canada is no Canadian eh!" Virtual Team) completed the stage Top 10. Four more Australians (Kepler, Veal, Minato and Robertson) managed to get into the Top 25 places. Four Teams (out of 5) featuring Jean Delatour's Nazon topped the stage classification, while the remaining one, Michael T. Meehan's "Lemond's Domestique", could take 127th only, as besides the Frenchman he got stage points just from Lance Armstrong.

Three players, two from the U.S. and one from Britain, couldn't earn any stage points in the final leg. Just like in all previous days (but the Prologue) Tie-breaking Rules were applied to the Top 50 Virtual Teams in the Stage Classification only.
