The Italian Alessio -team is taking a mixture off well aquinted and more or less rookies to their home gran' tour. The team lead by Bruno Cenghialta, Dario Mariuzzo and Valerio Tebaldi plans to fight the battle for il maglia rosa with amongst others Fabio Baldato (Ita). This at the 13th of June 1968 in Lonigo (VI, Italy) born rider has allready gathered lots of succeses so far. He started out as a professional rider in 1991 with the Del Tongo team and has moved upwards ever since. The in Bovolone born 27 year old allready was succesfull in past Giro d'Italia's with winning the 8 stage in Reggio Emilia in 2001 and the 17th stage in San Remo (2002).

Next to be expected in blue and red will most likely be Angelo Furlan. Born on 22 June 1977 in Arzignano last year he prooved himself to be very succesfull in Spain with two stage-wins in the Vuelta (17th in Salamance and 20th stage in Warner Bros Park) and is feared in the bunch for his sprint. Denis Lunghi (Ita) joined the team this season. He comes from Biella (born on the 21st of january in 1976) and is a professional racer since 1999. The Polti team was his first pro-squad, a year later he moved to the Colpack-team. The taste of winning a Giro-stage he allready has had in 2002, when he took home the victoryflowers in the 12th stage in Chieti. Another Italian Ruggero Marzoli also first saw daylight in 1976, on the day after april fools to be precise. The Pescarian rider started professional in 1999 at the Cantina Tollo squadra, a team where he stayed for three years. After one year in the Mobilvetta Design team he switched to Alessio. His winning-spirits he prepared in the Tirreno Adriatico with succeeding in the fifth stage (Rapagnano) and in the Giro d'Abruzzo (first in the 4th stage in Tollo).

In the years 1998 and 2000 he was national champion on the road. The KRKA hosted him in the 1997-2001 period before switching to the Italian team of Cenghialta and co. In the past years Cristian Moreni (11 November 1972) allready prooved to be feeling extremely well on his home soil roads. In the Liquigas jersey he crossed the finisline first in the third stage in the 2000 edition. In doing that he also grabbed hold of the rosa jersey in Maddaloni. Another one and one golden oldie will be Andrea Noe . He too worn the rosa tricot several days. In 1998 allready he won the first stage of the Giro in San Marino. Born on the 15th of January in 1969 he is the most experienced in this team during the following three weeks. The victorylist of the professional born in Magenta is a short one, consisting of only two wins; one being the first stage of the 1998 Giro and the other the fourth stage of the Tour de Romandie in 2000. Last name in the team is most likely to be Franco Pellizotti. The curly headed coureur from Latisina (Udinese) has spend his whole carreer so far in the Alessio team. He started racing on a professional basis in 2001. In that year he did not win any. A year later though he tasted the winning champagne after the sixth stage of the Tirreno Adriatico in Montegranaro.
