A great win, the first one on the road for the Quick-Step Davitamon-Latexco team, for Kiwi Jeremy Jates, who was the fastest across the line in the fourth race of GP Istria, held on Saturday afternoon in the Croatian town of Buje.
Twenty-year-old Yates and second-placed Thomas Dekker of The Netherlands put an end to Perutnina Ptuj's winning streak, as the best rider of the Slovenian team, last Sunday's winner Bostjan Mervar, could take third only.
Yates won also thanks to a great leadout work from his teammates, after another Quick Step rider, Belgium's Sebastian Rosselare, who went on asolo breakaway, was caught with some 3 km. to go.
