| 6-Days of Nouméa: Leg 5: New change at the top of the Overall Ranking in the fifth and penultimate day of th Australasian competition. On Tuesday session France's Jérôme Neuville and Franck Perque, current World Madison Champions, won of the first, 50-lap chase of the night and were runner-ups in the second (consisting of 130 laps of the circuit, a total of some 43 km.), and took a lap on their main challengers, Germany's Steinweg and Weispfenning and hot favourites Baffi and Tessier.
A lap that could prove decisive for the final outocome. As for the former leaders, the Teutonic pair lost the overall lead to the all-french team, and saved the second spot by just two points over Baffi and caledonian Tessier. Expect close battle on Wednesday's final night anyway.
Despite losing two more laps, local riders Nicolas Nagle and Benoît Genauzeau managed to strengthen their fourth place overall, with a 3-lap advantage on Fabien Merciris and Thierry Fondere.
No changes at the bottom of the ranking, with Australia's Steven Sitspartric one more day sitting in place number eleven, and New Zealand's Adam Curry finally earning a few points (that didn't improve his overall position though). No points yet for another Kiwi, Ryan Hoogenberg, still "red lantern" of the race along with teammate Benoît Powell.
As for the Sprinters race, neither Australian Gregory Mc Farlane nor New-Zealander Justin Grace seem to be able to match French stars (in fact the biggest stars of this event) Florian Rousseau and Arnaud Tournant, alternatively dominating the Sprint and Keirin sessions.
