| 6-days of Nouméa: 4th leg: Germany's Stefan Steinweg and Eric Weispfennig stormed into the overall lead on the fourth night of racing in New Caledonia. With a great score of 172 (they gained 49 points on Monday, after taking 3rd in the opening chase, and winning the second), the teutonic pair is leading by no less than a 27-point margin over main favourites Jean-Michel Tessier and Adriano Baffi. And in the coming session the Italo-Caledonian duo might even lose second place, as France's Perque and Neuville are currently just 9 points down to them.
With only two nights to go, the final win looks like being a matter of those three pairs, as the fourth-placed team, made up of local riders Nicolas Nagle are Benoît Genauzeau, is trailing three laps behind, and even their score is relatively low.
Cédric Agez and Frédéric Fayard, winners of Monday's first chase, put more and more points in store, but as they are four laps down to Nagle and Genauzeau, their chances to finish in the fourth spot overall are close to zero.
Not good news for english-speaking contenders, as Australia's Steven Sitspartric (and partner Nicolas Marlier) are in eleventh place, with just 4 points scored. Nevertheless they are in a better position than Kiwis Adam Curry and (last-placed) Ryan Hoogenberg, still waiting to get their first points.
As for the "Mini Six Days" classification, Tuanua Zahn and Rémy Poellabauer are still leading, after taking two laps (one of which on Monday) on all their main challengers, starting from runner-ups (both in the Night and Overall Standings) Xavier Latoupie and Cyril Guillemard. The "multi-gender" team featuring Wilfried Loquiet and french girl Cindy Baroni is fifth, while New Zealand's Wiliams and teammate are sitting in seventh place.
