Pearl Izumi Tour Series - Week 4
As theTour Series enters its final week of racing Rapha Condor JLT has increased its lead in the team standings after taking the honours in Canary Wharf.
While Madison Genesis' Tobyn Horton sealed his first individual win hard riding by Rapha Condor JLT saw their lead increase. Horton headed Chris Opie in the final lap dash from an eight rider group around Canary Wharf's 1-kilometre circuit, with the Cornishman taking the evening's Costa Express Fastest Lap on the final tour.
Rapha Condor JLT has 18 points of clear water, with only 36 more available from Tuesday's Woking event and Jersey's double header final round. The men in black have led the compettion since Round Two at Barrow. Canary Wharf saw them take their fifth team win of the 2014 Series, equalling their tally from 2010 and 2011, when John Herety's team also won the overall title. Kristian House won the evening's Sprints prize to move into second spot in the standings, 15 points adrift of NFTO's Jon Mould, who was rested from the Canary Wharf race.
The competition for second spot is burning red hot with Madison Genesis now just two points ahead of Team Raleigh. Neither team performed exceptionally in Canary Wharf despite Horton's win with fifth for Madison and fourht for Raleigh.
Week Five comprises rounds nine and ten in Working and on the Channel Island of Jersey respectively.
