Team TIBCO ready to race trio of Drenthe races in Holland
Team TIBCO ready to race trio of the Tour of Drenthe races in Holland on March 7, 9 and 10.

After top-tier performances in the early Belgian Classics this year, Team TIBCO heads to the Netherlands for another block of fierce European racing. Drentse 8 van Dwingeloo kicks off tomorrow and is the first of three notable Dutch races to take place this week, including World Cup race Ronde van Drenthe Saturday.

Team TIBCO sends a 6-rider squad including Shelley Olds (USA), who took 2nd at Drentse 8 in 2011 and has proven to be a serious contender in the European one-day races. Dutch rider Chantal Blaak will be racing in her home country, joined by German powerhouse Claudia Hausler, Olympians Jasmin Glaesser (CAN) and Rushlee Buchanan (NZL), and U23 U.S. National Road Champion Samantha Schneider.

286 riders are slated to start tomorrow’s 141-kilometer race. The race will take riders through three 47-kilometer laps in the shape of a figure-8, that, although very flat, has several technical turns and cobbles. Last year, speeds exceeded 50 kph and the constant flurry of attacks animated the race. With the top names in women’s cycling set to race the UCI 1.1 category event tomorrow, we expect nothing less than a fierce battle for the win.

Saturday, Team TIBCO’s 6-rider squad will take on the marquee Ronde van Drenthe World Cup. Again, the Team will aim to work together as one, and put their riders in the best position possible as they battle for victory.

The trio of Dutch races will close out Sunday with the Novilon Euregio Cup in Coevorden. The race will depart on cobbles but the bulk of the 130-kilometer race will be run on smooth roads. Team TIBCO will send the same 6-rider squad to contest this race.
