Annemiek van Vleuten (Rabobank) has won the GP Stad Roeselare. The winner of the 2011 World Cup was the fastest of a three-rider break over Christel Ferrier-Bruneau and Linda Villumsen. World Champion Giorgia Bronzini won the sprint of the bunch for fourth place almost three minutes down on Van Vleuten. Marianne Vos, Alona Andruk, Chloe Hosking, Lizzie Armitstead, Emma Johansson and Evelyn Arys rounded off the top ten.

The first attack of the day in the 129,5 km race came from Chloe McConville (Australia). A little later the young Australian was joined by Latoya Brulee (Topsport Vlaanderen). The two created a maximum lead of nearly three minutes before the bunch started to chase. On the first climb of the day, the famous Kemmelberg, 30 km into the race the gap of the two was down to less than one minute. In the bunch the favorites were chasing with Marianne Vos, Emma Johansson and Lizzie Armitstead.

On the Scherpenberg McConville and Brulee were caught as the bunch has broken into several parts due to the high pace. On the Rode Berg Christel Ferrier (Hitec Products) attacked and was joined by Annemiek van Vleuten (Rabobank) and Linda Villumsen (GreenEdge-AIS). The three worked well together and extended their lead quite fast to 2.30. Behind the several groups came back together but as all the big teams apart from Specialized-Lululemon had a rider in front nobody was willing to work.

Entering the local laps (3 laps of almost 9 km). The gap of Villumsen, Van Vleuten and Ferrier-Bruneau was up to four minutes. Dutch National Champion Marianne Vos attacked the peloton but didn't get away. In the final local lap Villumsen tried to surprise her companions but didn't get away either. In the sprint Van Vleuten won very convincing. Ferrier-Bruneau finished in second with Villumsen in third.
