| Kendall Ryan of Team TIBCO/To the Top earned her first win of the season this past weekend, taking Saturday’s criterium stage of the Tour de Murrieta in southern California.
Ryan got ample help from teammate Lindsay Myers en route to the sprint win over Tour of New Zealand stage winner Loren Rowney (Specialized-lululemon).
“Lindsay was incredible Saturday,” Ryan said. “She did a ton of work during the race to keep things together. And when it came down to the final lap, she did three strong jumps to lead me out and dropped me off out of the last corner in perfect position.”
Ryan won the sprint by a full bike length over Rowney and the rest of the 45-deep field.
Ryan noted that the two teammates communicated well and worked well together during the race, despite this being their first time racing together, and that communication continued through to Sunday’s circuit race.
“We chatted the entire time during the race Sunday,” Ryan said. Unfortunately, Ryan’s shot at doubling up on the weekend ended when she ran over a thorn and flatted, and then was passed up by neutral support for a spare. Myers continued on to finish the day in 7th.
“I had the legs to get back in if I had gotten a wheel,” Ryan said. “But both Lindsay and I are feeling good ahead of San Dimas.”
The San Dimas Stage Race kicks off this Friday.

SAN DIMAS THREE DAY STAGE RACE SCHEDULE
Professional women will be scored daily with both individual and general classification (GC) omnium results.
♦ Friday, March 16 – 3.8 Time Trial
♦ Saturday, March 17 – Road Race – 56 miles
The women will race a loop consisting 7 miles for a total of 8 laps.
♦ Sunday, March 18 – 2:00 p.m. Criterium – 55 minutes
