Belgian Champion Niels Albert has won the first race of the new Superprestige season. In Ruddervoorde he won ahead of his compatriots Bart Aernouts and Klaas Vantornout. World Champion Zdenek Stybar and France's Steve Chainel took the hole shot. Sven Nys had bad luck in the first lap with a chain problem. Halfway through the first lap Niels Albert and Bart Aernouts bridged up to Stybar and Chainel. In the second lap Stybar launched another attack but a strong Aernouts countered him.

Due to problems with changing gears and a bit later a crash Stybar dropped off the front and Aernouts was able to create a 10 seconds gap on a group with a.o. Albert, Nys, Vantornout and Stybar. With 3 laps to go Albert attacked and quickly bridged up to Aernouts. At the finish with two laps to go the two had a small lead on the first chasing group with Nys, Vantornout and Sven Vanthourenhout.

The two didn't stay together for long as Albert his pace was too high for Aernouts. Behind Sven Nys and Klaas Vantornout battled for the third place as the others dropped. In the final lap Albert his lead didn't came in danger to take the first big win of the season. Aernouts finished in second at 6 seconds with Vantornout leaving Nys behind for third place.

Wietse Bosmans has won the U23 opener of the Superprestige in Ruddervoorde. The Belgian had a small lead over Tijmen Eising and Lars van der Haar. Vinnie Braet and Mike Teunissen rounded off the top five.

Vinnie Braet and Mike Teunissen had the best start of the field. The duo created a gap of 8 seconds by the end of the first lap on a group with Van der Haar, Bosmans and Eising. Braet pulled through and Teunissen wasn't able to follow. In the chasing group Bosmans took the initiative and chased down Braet forming a new five rider break.

A 100% score for Wyman as she won all her previous nine races in the United States. Lucie Chainel missed her start but rode a strong race ending in third place.
