Canadian Team for the Worlds Announced

The Canadian Cycling Association announced the final selections for the Canadian team that will participate at the World Road Championships in Zolder yesterday. Charles Dionne got the nod for the road race, after showing winning end of season form with his victory last weekend at the San Francisco Grand Prix. Dionne was awaiting this decision on pins and needles earlier this week, but said "I feel like I've done my job, trained hard, raced good; I'm ready!"

Saturn's Eric Wohlberg was a shoe-in for the top Time Trial slot as Canadian National Champion in that discipline, and Roland Green took the second TT spot based on his win at the Mountain Bike Worlds and his 14th place finish last year in this event.

The women's road and time trial teams will be strong with Lynne Bessette and the remarkable Genvieve Jeanson, as well.
