2011Garmin-Cervélo Team - Roster Announced
Jonathn Vaughters is "incredibly excited" about the 2011 and why you should be too...

Slipstream Sports, LLC, is poised for what could be its biggest year yet and today unveiled its roster for 2011 Team Garmin-Cervélo, comprised of 39 of the world’s best men and women hailing from 16 countries.

The men's roster is composed of The men’s team, comprised of 29 riders, will be headed up on the road by Director of Competition, Matt White. The women’s team is comprised of 10 riders and the director will be announced shortly.

The team – a powerhouse in the men’s and women’s pelotons - is highlighted by world champions Thor Hushovd and Emma Pooley, sprint sensation Tyler Farrar, Ryder Hesjedal, 7th overall in the 2010 Tour de France, rising star Lizzie Armitstead and men’s team leader, Christian Vande Velde.

The team also boasts several current and former national champions including Murilo Fischer, Cameron Meyer, Travis Meyer Matt Wilson and Emma Pooley.

The team presents an strong alliance of classic talents to support World Champion Thor Hushovd in his quest to add the northern classics to his palmares in: Roger Hammond, Heinrich Hausler, Andreas Klier, and Martijn Maaskant .

While the classics contingent is as formidable the teams sprint lineup looks as strong to support team fast men: Tyler Farrar and Hushovd with Kiwi Julian Dean, Brazilian Murilo Fischer and Brett Lancaster any of whom are capable of winning a stage or one day sprint.

The team continues to grow from strength to strength in stage races. The presumptive leaders of the team are of course American Christian Vandevelde and Canadian Ryder Hesjedal. No longer a band of rookies as they once were when it came to the Grand Tours, Vaughters has assembled a team deep in talent now filled with veterans of the three week races; and large enough to take on the super-powers of stage racing in all three Grand Tours in:  Tom Danielson, David Millar, David Zabriskie, Tom Tom Peterson, Hushovd, Dean, Dan Martin and youngster Peter Stetina among others.

“We’re incredibly excited about 2011. Our men’s roster is our strongest yet and we have what we think could be the strongest women’s team in the world,” said Jonathan Vaughters, CEO, Slipstream Sports.

“For the men, we have one of the strongest lead out trains in the peloton along with one of the strongest Classics line-ups. The women’s squad brings a wealth of experience and honors and we are incredibly excited to see what they do on the road this year. We have the opportunity and the objective to become the number one ranked team - men and women - by the year’s end, and to do it with the same ethical code we started out with. Whatever happens, we’ll give our fans and our sponsors many reasons to cheer in 2011.”

We can understand Vaughters excitement and anticipation for the 2011 season, he's never had such depth and quality of talent in both young guns and journeymen to plan his assault for victories and will be able to field a team capable of winning stages, time trials and one day classics... and thats just the men's team.

The same words above could be said for the Women's team; building on the tremendous results of the Cervélo women's team of last year and adding key riders. We predict that team Garmin-Cervélo and Vaughters is on for its best year yet... and will be seen on a podium near you soon.

Slipstream Sports pioneered the most stringent anti-doping program in all of professional sports and that will continue with Team Garmin-Cervélo. Team Garmin-Cervélo will kick off its first training camp in Calpe, Spain, in January, and the team will hold its first media day on January 28th in Girona, Spain.
