Déjà vu all over again! Cervélo TestTeam's Emma Pooley dominates, to take her second solo  victory in Plouay over Marianne Vos and Emma Johansson

For the second year in a row Great Britain's Emma Pooley (Cervélo TestTeam) dominated the UCI Women's World Cup race in Plouay, France winning solo by over a minute on her two closest rivals.

Once again it was Marianne Vos (Netherlands) and Emma  Johansson (Red Sun)  finishing second and third in the same order as the 2009 romp around the demanding 6 - 19.1 km circuit.  HTC/Columbia's Judith Arndt arrived with Vos and Johansson to finish 4th

HTC's Evelyn Stevens led the chase of 3 finishing at 2:35 to the winner Pooley for 5th with Cervélo's Charlotte Becker and Russian Natalia Boyarskaya finishing to together at over three and a half minutes for sixth and 7th.

Next chaser's Canada's Erinne Willock winning the sprint for 8th place over Olga  Zabelinskaya (Safi - Pasta Zara). The main group would finish almost six minutes later.

Mid race an attack of the four favorites came  on the climb of the Lezot after an early break of four riders were caught.on the 3rd lap -  Arndt, Johansson and Vos got a gap with Pooley succeeding in bridging to  the three leaders

Two laps from the finish, the four favorites had a gap of 1:30 on the first chase group, the peloton lagged in the distance at over 4 minutes.

On the last climb of Kerihuel, Emma Pooley attacked and only Marianne Vos could only keep pace;  But Judith Arndt finally managed to return just before the summit, while Emma Johansson fought to return to the leaders. Pooley attacked again on the final climb of Ty Marrec flying away from the trio with Vos leading the chase but unable to close to Pooley chose to wait for Arndt and Johansson.

The Dutch/Swedish/German alliance couldn't in spite of their best efforts to catch the Brit who went on to win solo for the second time in Plouay. Vos took the sprint over Johansson for a repeat of the finish order and podium of last year.

Emma Pooley on her second win...
“It is just amazing this victory. Actually I didn’t expect that, but the course and terrain of western France seems to fit me. We were a group of four riders coming into the final lap. As I am not so strong in sprints I tried my luck at the Côte de Kerihuel and attacked but Marianne Vos was still on my wheels on the top. So I attacked again at Ty Marrec and this time I was able get away and pushed hard on the final kilometers for the victory. It is great to win here in Plouay again.”

Egon van Kessel, Sports Director of Cervélo TestTeam
“The GP de Plouay is always a challenge. Our tactic was to make the race hard with a lot of attacks and the team worked it perfectly. We were in several breaks during the race with Lizzie Armitstead (GBR), Sharon Laws (GBR), Charlotte Becker and finally Emma Pooley."

"Pooley caught the final break with Marianne Vos, Judith Arndt (GER) and Emma Johansson. That group had a gap of four minutes heading into the final lap. Emma performed magnificently with a strong attack that gave her the solo win. I’m really happy with today’s victory and also wish to congratulate all our riders for the overall win of the Team World Cup ranking.“
