UCI World Cup Cyclocross - Roubaix, Elite Women

Czech Katerina Nash won her first-ever cyclocross World Cup in Roubaix this weekend. Nash battled with German National Champion Hanka Kupfernagel, but dropped her on the final lap. Kupfernagel finished as second and Marianne Vos in third. Daphny van den Brand, who finished as, fourth, took over the World Cup lead of Katie Compton. Compton was absent due to suffering with the same leg cramp problems that troubled her in the past. Marianne Vos is now second overall with Compton down to third.

Marianne Vos too the hole shot and rode in the lead for 2,5 lap.. It looked like Vos was going to destroy the others but it went different as both Katerina Nash and Hanka Kupfernagel were able to rejoin the World Champion in the third lap. Nash didn't had the best start making a few mistakes in the beginning and escaping a crash when Van den Brand touched her wheel and went down. On top of that Nash crashed herself but was able to continue without any injuries.

Vos had to pay for her efforts in the first lap and dropped with Nash and Kupfernagel. The two National Champions turned into the final lap together and it looked like it was going to turn out in a sprint. Halfway through the final lap Nash attacked after the technical sections and was able to create and keep a small gap over Kupfernagel.
