MABRAcross Season Starts with Ed Sander Memorial
The well-known BikeReg.com MABRAcross Series kicks-off this weekend with the
running of the 7th Annual Ed Sander Memorial in central Maryland on Sunday September
27. It is the first event of a nine-race campaign for the series that encompasses
Delaware, Maryland, Washington DC and Northern Virginia.
New sponsors Voler, Louis Garneau, and the Raw Talent Ranch training facility
in Mathias, West Virginia have contributed to the merchandise prize pool of
over $2,000 for the amateur classes. The Elite Men and Women will be competing
for a combined cash purse of over $1,600. The Ed Sander Memorial has developed
something of a reputation as one of the East Coast’s most unpredictable
early season ‘cross races. It also has a well-earned reputation for its
split personality with a traditional announcer at the prim-and-proper meditation
garden at the start and finish area, while announcing legend “Jammin’
Joe” Jefferson MC’s a party that includes adult beverages in the back
of a pickup truck on the “Back Nine” portion of the course.
Registration for the Ed Sander Memorial can be found at BikeReg.com.
