Thüringen Rundfahrt 2009, Teams for World Cup Berne, Safi-Pasta & Cervelo for Berne, Longo wins Trophee des Grimpeurs, Anna Sanchis injury update, Sara Mustonen to Team Hitec and Bronzini wins GP Liberazione.

Thüringen Rundfhart announces 2009 route
The Women's Thüringen Rundfahrt, which will be held from July 21 to 25, has announced the route for 2009. The German race expects to have a top field with Time Trial World Champion Amber Neben, Trixi Worrack, Hanka Kupfernagel and defending champion Judith Arndt. The race contains six stages including a tough 23 km time trial.

Nine of the top ten teams of the current UCI ranking have shown interest in taking part in the race. The national teams of USA, Australia, Canada and Sweden are also considering to start in the German stage race.

Stage 1: Rund um Altenburg, 80km
Stage 2: Rund um Gera, 130km
Stage 3: Rund um Schleiz, 130km
Stage 4: Rund um Triebes (ITT), 23km
Stage 5: Rund um Schmölln, 112km
Stage 6: Rund um Greiz, 130km


Tour de Berne announces teams
The Tour de Berne, the next World Cup race for women, on Sunday May 10 has announced the participating teams for its event.

The teams are: Bigla Cycling Team, Cervelo Test Team, Team Columbia High Road, Red Sun Cycling, Chirio Forno d'Asolo, Team Canada, Team DSB Bank, Equipe Nurnberger, Team Germany, Fenixs Edilsavino, Team Dilà Kuota, Top Girls Fassa Bortolo Raxy Line Arredoquattro, Gauss Rdz Ormu Colnago, Lotto Belisol, Michela Fanini Record Rox, Team Flexpoint, Safi Pasta Zara Titanedi, Selle Italia Ghezzi, Team Luxembourg and Team Austria. Emma Johansson (Red Sun) is the overall leader in the World Cup since her win in the Ronde van Drenthe.

Safi-Pasta Zara and Cervelo TestTeam line-ups for World Cup Berne

The Italian Safi-Pasta Zara and the Swiss Cervelo team have announced its line-ups for the World Cup in Berne. The teams are:

Jeannie Longo (50) still on top winning the Trophée des Grimpeurs
Jeannie Longo, 50 years of age, is still one of the best riders in the women's scene despite her age. Last Sunday (May 3) Longo won the women's Trophée des Grimpeurs with almost a one minute lead on her teammate Edwige Pitel (second) and Vienne Futuroscope's Karine Gautard (third). A few days earlier Longo also finished as second behind Christiane Soeder in the GP de Suisse - Souvenir Magali Pache in Switzerland. The win in the Trophee des Grimpeurs was her third consecutive win in this race.

Anna Sanchis Chafer misses another three months
Spanish talent Anna Sanchis Chafer (Safi-Pasta Zara) has to rest for another three months. Her knee, on which she is operated in December, isn't fully recovered at the moment. Therefore she will miss her season goal the Giro D'Italia which will start in July.

Sara Mustonen joins Hitec Products UCK

Swede Sara Mustonen (Team Merida) is going to ride for the rest of the season for the Norwegian Team Hitec Products UCK. The 28 year old recently finished as third in the Omloop van Strijen, ninth in the Ronde van Gelderland and fourth in the Omloop van Borsele. For Mustonen 2009 is her fourth season as a professional cyclist. Last year she participated alongside Emma Johansson and Susanne Ljungskog in the Olympic Road Race.

Giorgia Bronzini wins GP Liberazione
Italian sprinter Giorgia Bronzini has won the GP Liberazione (April 25). In the sprint the rider of Safi-Pasta Zara was the fastest over Russian Champion Julia Martisova and Alessandra D'Ettore.
