4th Memorial Cimurri (1.1)

The fourth memorial Cimurri (October 4) is won by the men in shape Mikhaylo Khalilov (Ceramica Flaminia). Khalilov jumped away in the final and was one second faster than the first chasing group led home by Giovanni Visconti. Danilo di Luca finished as third. Danilo Hondo and Mauro Finetto rounded off the top five. For Khalilov it's his fourth win of the season after his victories in de GP de la Ville de Rennes, a stage in the Circuit de la Sarthe and the recent GP Industria & Commercio di Prato.

The race was started by a very special guest namely the newly retired two-time World Champion (2006 & 2007) and the 2004 Olympic Champion Paolo Bettini. Bettini announced his retirement at the eve of the World Championships in Varese won by Alessandro Ballan.

In the first ten kilometers of the race we got a break of five with Francesco Gavazzi (Lampre), Vladimir Duma (Ceramica Flaminia), Walter Proch (LPR), Daniele Contrini (Tinkoff) and Fabrice Piemontesi (NGC Medical).

The break worked well together and they got a maximum lead of seven minutes before Liquigas, Scott and a few other teams started to chase. With around 40 km to go the break was caught.
