Lampre - Young Gun Andrea Grendene Makes Pro Debut
Lampre will race in the North of Europe Eneco Tour.
For blue-fucsia team there will be the following riders: Fabio Baldato, Matteo Bono, Daniele Righi, Sylwester Szmyd and neo-pro Andrea Grendene, in his first race for Lampre. Guido Bontempi will be the sport director and he will be supported by doctor Andreazzoli, by masseurs Della Torre, Lunardon and Quero and by mechanics Cambiè and Carminati.

"Because of hazards and of calendar problems, we'll be able to take part in Eneco Tour with only five cyclists - Guido Bontempi commented - "Anyway, we'll give our best in order to honour this race: we'll have the experience in this kind of races with Baldato and Righi, the reliability of Righi and Szmyd and the enthusiasm of neo-pro Grendene".

Andrea Grendene, 22 years old, Italian sprinter who obtained 17 victories in amateurs category for Team Filmop Ramonda.  Bottoli, is a new Lampre's cyclist.

He was born in Thiene on the 4th of July 1986 and he lives in Montecchio Precalcino, near Vicenza. He's a very fast rider of 175 cm of height and 70 kg of weight: thanks to his power he obtained many victories in 4 years in amateurs, 9 wins in 2008 (the most important is Gp Liberazione di Roma). He was in the Italian Under 23 National Team in Tour of Flanders and in Ville de Saguenay.

The agreement is until 2010, debut is on the 20th of August in Eneco Tour. "Also because the injury of Fornaciari, we decided to sign immediately the very fast Grendene. He will debut in Eneco Tour", Saronni explained.

Olympics
Team Columbia - Wiggins Wins Olympic Gold

Great Britain’s Bradley Wiggins fulfilled all expectations by netting the gold medal in the Beijing Olympic Games individual pursuit on Saturday. 24 hours after setting a new Olympic record during the qualifying round, Wiggins saw off New Zeland’s Hayden Roulston to take his first Olympic gold of 2008 for his country. Another British rider, Steven Burke, took bronze.

For Wiggins - a rider with Team Columbia when not in Great Britain colours like at Beijing - this is his second straight individual pursuit title at Olympic level. The Londoner now goes on to take part in the team pursuit on Sunday before gunning for a third gold with Mark Cavendish in the Madison.

“The final round of the individual pursuit was really controlled, basicaly I was just trying not to go in too deep.” Wiggins said after his first Olympic triumph. “To do it all over again, and then go again two hours later was really tough, though. And it’s been a long year building up for the Olympics.”

“The next challenge for me will be the team pursuit, but I’ve done that before and I’ve been there before. On top of that, we’ve trained really hard for this.” Asked if he could get three gold medals, Wiggins was confident but cautious. “The Danes will give us a good run for our money in the team pursuit and I might struggle a bit in tomorrow morning [in the qualifying round] But by the evening I’m sure I’ll be back on top of it.”

“I’ve got really strong team-mates around me, this isn’t a one-man band after all. All four of us, me and the three back in the Olympic village, are up for this team pursuit as well and then for the Madison Cav [Mark Cavendish] has got great form too. It’s all looking very good - really really promising.”

Geraint Thomas brings a gold medal to Team Barloworld
He was expected to take a medal in the team-pursuit track event, in Beijing , and he kept the word. Team Barloworld 's Geraint Thomas achieved, in fact, a wonderful gold medal in today's team-pursuit's final match , beating Denmark's team.

The British golden team dominated the 4km's track race at the Laoshan Velodrome, clocking the new world record with the unbelievable time of 3.53 (61.719 km/h), after already beating their previous performance from the Worlds during yesterday's semifinal.

Thomas, together with Bradley Wiggins, Paul Manning and Ed Clancy, won the World Championship in the same race, in Manchester, and joined the exclusive club of the Olympic medalists. It's such a great satisfaction for Geraint himself but also for Barloworld and team manager Claudio Corti as well, who strongly supported Thomas's training with the Brit team. "I'm so proud of Geraint as he carried out a long training effort in accordance to our team - stated team manager Claudio Corti - . After the Giro d'Italia we let him concentrate on the Olympic event and his gold medal is now a very important achievement for Barloworld".

Thomas had the chance to ride the individual-pursuit race, but he preferred to concentrate on one thing and do it 100%, and not risk being tired for the team's event. He was really confident to take the gold medal in the team race, as he focused it from the beginning of 2008.

"I knew our time was fast, but 3.53... it's great. I still can't believe it! - stated Thomas - I think this time shouldn't be broken for a very long time".

Bicycle retailers and media can demo a broad range of products at Bootleg Canyon demo site, including cyclocross bikes on a cyclocross-specific course

Interbike today announced its annual OutDoor Demo at Bootleg Canyon, Nevada, is on schedule to meet or exceed last year's event. As of release date, the OutDoor Demo has 63,500 of net-sold, square-feet of exhibit space and is continuing to grow as manufacturers submit exhibiting contracts.

"The OutDoor Demo continues to be an important event for manufactures and bicycle retailers," said Rich Kelly, Interbike's marketing manager. "Retailers want and need hands-on testing opportunities. The industry continues to introduce a broad range of bikes and accessories for different uses, such as cyclocross and commuting, and OutDoor Demo is the perfect opportunity to demo them all."

This year's edition of the OutDoor Demo will be held September 22-23, 2008, and will now include a cyclocross demo loop, prepared by CrossVegas, LLC, with 40cm high barriers interspersed along a 1-kilometer undulating course.

The 2008 Interbike OutDoor Demo expo area is returning to the Bootleg Canyon park, which was improved last year with landscaping and new pavement by Boulder City's Parks and Recreation. Bootleg Canyon, home to one of the International Mountain Bicycle Association's (IMBA) "Epic Rides," features:
