Women’s World Cup: Open de Suede Vargarda
American Duo Dominates the Race. Kori Seehafer wins with Kim Anderson second. Charlotte Becker third. Arndt continues to lead the Women's World Cup.

UCI women’s World Cup in Vargarda, Sweden
The World Cup Open de Suede Vargarda in Sweden was dominated by Americans. Menikini rider Kori Seehafer was the best in a sprint two up sprint ahead of Kim Anderson (Columbia). Charlotte Becker finished third at 1:10.

In the beginning of the 132 kilometer race there were lots of attacks but none of them were successful in the first laps of the 12 ciruits. Finally a successful break formed on the wheels Karin Thürig (Cervelo) attack. Thürig got company of fourteen other riders who worked well together to build a solid lead.

With less than four laps (the riders had to do 12 laps of 11 km) Thürig attacked again together with Erinne Willock. The break split again and only four riders were able to bridge to Thürig and Willock.

The six riders break consisted of: Kim Anderson (Columbia), Kori Seehafer (Menikini-Selle Italia-Master Colors), Erinne Willock (Webcor Builders), Karin Thürig (Cervelo-Lifeforce), Charlotte Becker (Equipe Nürnberger Versicherung) and Andrea Thürig (Bigla).

With less than two laps to go Seehafer attacked out of the break together with Kim Anderson. The two countrywomen quickly got a gap of a twenty seconds; but continued to build to a minute after the chasing group gave up their efforts.

In the sprint Seehafer bested Anderson to take one of her most beautiful wins in her career. Judith Arndt who finished eighth remains in the world cup lead.
