Thüringen Rundfahrt - Women: Stage 6

The final stage in the Thüringen Rundfahrt was a battle between the giants for the overall win. Trixi Worrack won the final stage ahead of Arndt while Arndt took the overall win ahead of Worrack. For Arndt it's her second overall win in a row.

Stage 6: Rund um Zeulenroda, 127.6 km
The final stage also called Rund um Zeulenroda isn't an easy stage. In the beginning of the race we saw lots of attacks but nobody could get away. Angela Hennig won the first KOM sprint ahead of Felicia Gomez and Modesta Vzesniauskaite.

During the stage we had also lots of abandons with among others Odette Bertolin, Kettj Manfrin, Sarah Düster, Inge van den Broeck, Regina Schleicher, Elke Gebhardt, Francesca Faustini, Andrea Graus, Elodie Touffet, Virginia Henning, Janel Holcomb and lots of others.

The second KOM sprint after about 50 km of racing was won by Karin Aune ahead of Trixi Worrack and Luise Keller. After 70 km of racing the bunch was still together. In the meantime Suzanne de Goede won the first sprint ahead of Johansson and Gunnewijk.

The first break who was allowed to go was from Leigh Hobson. Hobson got a gap around the 40 seconds but after the third KOM, which she won ahead of Keller and Worrack, she was chased down again.

The next one to attack was Erinne Willock. Willock got company of Andrea Thürig. Both worked well together and got a maximum gap of around the 2.00. Willock won the second sprint and also took the fourth and final KOM sprint but with less than 10 km to go the gap of both girls was down to 17 seconds.

5 km before the finish Willock got rid of Thürig but she was quickly joined by Worrack and Arndt who battled for the overall win. Willock couldn't follow the two germans but was able to finish the stage as third. Worrack won the stage in a sprint ahead of Arndt but it wasn't enough for Worrack to take the overall win from Arndt.

Judith Arndt wins for the second time in a row the Thüringen Rundfahrt. Trixi Worrack is second at 18 seconds and Grete Treier is third at 1.18. Karin Thürig and Christiane Soeder rounded off the top 5.

The other overall prizes are for Stephanie Pohl (Best Young Rider), Cervelo Lifeforce (Teams), Suzanne de Goede (Sprints) and Felicia Gomez (KOM).
