Stage 5: Hasselt - Gerwen, 227 km
The first attack in the fifth stage came from Dennis Smit and Maurice Vrijmoed. They were quickly joined by Jos Harms. The maximum gap of the three riders in front in the longest stage of this event was 7.00 minutes.

But in the final they were caught again due to the work of the Mini Rabos who went to the front to protect their team leader Lars Boom's yellow jersey. Despite the late attacks from Jeroen Boelen and Ronan van Zandbeek the stage once again ended in a mass sprint. Jos Pronk (Krolstone) won the stage ahead of Joachim Bohler and Aart Vierhouten. Lars Boom with the help of his team remains at the head of affairs another day.
