Race Winner - Tom Boonen

"Above all, I'm proud on the fact I was able to finish it off against such strong riders like Cancellara and Ballan", Tom says. "I felt really great today and this to me is the proof I was in shape the last three weeks."

"I truly focused so much on this Paris-Roubaix. Which is a great risk, but it also makes the victory so much better. Things went so much better compared to last year. I jumped on the road, even though I wasn't the best of the leading group. Entering the final with only three riders was perfect. Both Cancellara and Ballan had had their best already and at the Carrefour de l'arbre I then squeezed them until they were dead."

Boonen seemed to easily win the sprint. "It might seem that way, but it was not that easy", Tornado Tom said. "I started on the right and immediately took three bicycle lengths worth, but there were still some tactics involved."

Stijn Devolder
"I first went on Mons-en-Pévèle and then again with O'Grady. Like last week it was the task of the others to do something".

"One time it turns out good for me, other times it is for Tom", Devolder smiled.

After Boonen, Ballan and Cancellara escaped, Devolder tried something for himself in the background. "I waited until the gap was large enough, but O'Grady followed."

"I'll come back here to win, but first I will celebrate, rest and go to the Tour."

"A super Stijn Devolder rolled out the red carpet for Tom Boonen," said the director sportif of Quick-Step.

"It was our aim to have three riders sprinting for the victory. I was a bit afraid of Cancellara, but everyone was destroyed."

"When I looked in the eyes of Tom, I had a good feeling for the track."
"In the sprint they surprisingly remained at the bottom of the track and Tom went at the right time" Peeters commented about the the sprint.

Lampre - Allesandro Ballan struggled on the cobblestones in the Hell of North, Cunego battled on the Amorbieta climbs. An exciting Sunday for Lampre's riders racing in Paris-Roubaix and Klasika Primavera Amorbieta.

While Ballan was in the leading positions on the cobblestones and then followed Boonen and Cancellara in the crucial attack, Cunego won. Ballan escaped with Boonen and Cancellara towards Roubaix velodrome, where Alessandro showed on the first lap at the front of the trio, then the Lampre champion had to surrender to Boonen and to Cancellara.

After few minutes Baldato too reached Roubaix conquering the 10th place. "I gave everything I had, this podium makes me very happy." Ballan explained - I had energy enough to follow Boonen; but then I was a bit tired, I suffered for cramp too. I tried to realize a long sprint, but against Boonen there was nothing I could do".

Saunier Duval/Scott
Three Saunier Duval/Scott men reached the velodrome somewhat behind the leaders: Luciano Pagliarini, Raúl Alarcón (who crashed halfway through the race), and Denis Flahaut, who unfortunately didn't rank in the GC.

Ermanno Capelli, who had had such an outstanding role in Ghent-Wevelgem on Wednesday, had to drop out at Km. 30 after a crash.
