UCI ProTour - 2008 Teams
18 teams registered by the UCI Pro Tour Council
The UCI ProTour Council (CUPT) has made a decision on the 19 registration
requests submitted by UCI ProTeams before the statutory deadline (20 November).
Every year, teams that hold a UCI ProTour licence must submit a registration
renewal application to the UCI. This procedure helps the UCI to ensure that all
teams fulfil the stated requirements, particularly in legal and financial terms.
After the applications were reviewed by the CUPT, the following 18 teams were
registered by the UCI:
• Ag2r-La Mondiale (FRA)
• Astana (LUX)
• Bouygues Télécom (FRA)
• Caisse d’Epargne (FRA)
• Cofidis, le Crédit par Téléphone (FRA)
• Crédit Agricole (FRA)
• CSC (DEN)
• Euskaltel-Euskadi (ESP)
• Française des Jeux (FRA)
• Gerolsteiner (GER)
• High Road (ex-T-Mobile) *
• Lampre (ITA)
• Liquigas (ITA)
• Milram (ITA)
• Quick Step (BEL)
• Rabobank (NED)
• Saunier Duval - Scott (ESP)
• Silence-Lotto (BEL)
The Unibet.com team did not submit its application before the deadline and
was therefore not registered. In accordance with the regulations, the CUPT
Chairman asked the Licence Commission to begin proceedings to withdraw
Unibet.com’s team license.
The team Astana was registered on the basis of guarantees given by the
National Federation of Kazakhstan and the team’s new management regarding strict
observance of the commitments made by the previous management team, and with
respect to anti-doping measures.
* Conditional. The CUPT registered this team on the basis of the application
submitted within the deadline by T-Mobile. The UCI is awaiting further
information on the new structure from team management and the auditors (Ernst &
Young) before it can be approved. The UCI has confidence in the ability of the
team management to ensure the viability of the team.
