Devis Miorin wins first stage Uniqa Classic

In warm and sunny Austria todays stage was a fast one. A breakaway with 18 riders escaped at 10 kilometers after the start. Former winner of the race Steffen Kjaergaard of the US-Postal team is present up front, together with Bayern-Rundfahrtwinner Michael Rich, Dutchman Max van Heeswijk and later on too Christian Vandevelde.

The bunch attacks, but the gap reaches the eight minutes. Only seven riders stay in the lead. With only 1500 metres more to ride Italian Devis Miorin of the De Nardi-Montegrappa team attacks and crosses the finishline alone, winning the first stage of this years Uniqa Classic.
