Stage 2a the first of two semi-stages, opened with a minute of silence in memory
of the judge of contest Franco Siccardi, who died during the night in the hotel
that accommodated the organization of the Brixia.
The new Italian road champion Giovanni Visconti (Quick Step) was the winner of
the group finish in Breno. And the first victory for Visconti in the tricolor,
let alone the first victory of an Italian champion in the history of the Brixia
tour. Visconti in his attack in the final kilometer held off Fabio Baldato
of Lampre/Fondital and Antonio D' Aniello (Ceramica Flaminia) for the victory.
The general classification remained unchanged after today's group finish.

A four up finish in Stage 2a with Italian Champion Giovanni Visconti
denying Lampre's Fabio Baldato the line honors. Lampre-Fondital's Badalto
started the sprint at 500 mts to go, in order to try to chase Visconti who had
attacked at 1 km left. Baldato reached Visconti on the finish line, but the

Stage 4 Pisogne to Darfo Boario Terme 182 km
Like a movie script stage 4 couldn't have gone better if the author
was Davide Rebellin with the finish coming down to a pack sprint. It was
Liquigas's Francesco Chicchi in the center of the stage for the final act
leading by a bike length Mattia Gavazzi (Kio Ene) and Mirco Lorenzetto (Milram)
taking the podium steps as the actors took their applause for a fine finish.
David Rebellin of Gerolsteiner proved he still had fire in his legs to take the
seventh edition of the Brixia tour with Santo Anzą and Matteo Carrara completing
the final podium.
