Oscar Freire: "I didnít come into the Tour with the best form but I felt
very good on the stage. I was well positioned for the sprint thanks to the
work of my team, particularly Horrillo and Hunter, and I wasnít expecting to
win a stage at all until I got into that position.
"Itís great to beat Zabel, especially in front of his home fans but Iím
not really bothered about whoís behind me, the main thing is to win. I
really only came to the Tour to improve my condition for the classics in
August but itís great to add a Tour stage to my world championship and

But itís not very likely that I will ride in Spain next year. This is the
first sprint win by a Spanish rider for who knows how long, they are just
not set up for a rider like me."
Erik Zabel: "It was a difficult stage today, and McEwen and Freire were
