Smith Optics graciously provided three models for the DP to abuse out on the road, the V-Ti, Factor, and Theory. Each model was tested under windy and sunny to mostly cloudy weather conditions, and our panel of critics found that the V-Ti model provided the best protection for contact wearers in the wind, as well as complete coverage from extreme sun exposure. The Theory model was a close second to the V-Ti model in wind and sun protection, but proved to be the worst in lens replacement functionality. Whilst the Factor model allowed the most wind, the lenses were much easier to replace than the Theory model; however, the lens replacement with the V-Ti model is the smoothest and requires less pressure on the lenses and frames for extraction and insertion. All three models are very lightweight, well-suited for smaller faces, and comfortable to wear. Furthermore, all three models performed fantastically in humid conditions with little to no fogging, as well as the lenses provided excellent clarity even in mostly cloudy conditions. Our panel determined the V-Ti to be the best model if you require performance eyewear with its complete coverage allowing little wind and no sun exposure, lightweight, and comfort . The Theory and Factor models are more multi-functional than the V-Ti model and can be utilized on the bike as well as at the beach. The suggested retail price range of the V-Ti model is $159 to $179, and the Theory and Factor models retail for $99-$129.
