Rules of the Game
The "Fabio's Fantasy Tour 2004" is a Fantasy Game reserved to "Virtual
Teams", each of them consisting of 9 riders, picked
among the ones taking part in the REAL Tour de France, as well as 3 Trade Teams
selected among the 21 racing the "Grande
Boucle".
Below are the Rules to follow in the choice of Riders and Teams:
Choice of the 9 Riders
Just like in all previous Fabio's Fantasy Games, instead of following the
"credit" system and giving each rider a value,
I opted for splitting the 2004 TdF field into 4 different CATEGORIES ("A", "B",
"C", "D"), according to my own evaluation of
the riders skills and/or their chances to earn points during the race itself. No
wonder that you can find the reigning champion in
the "A" Category, while the (presumably) less-talented riders are in lower
categories. Of course one may think I underrated
some ... then just choose him!!! And don't choose the "overrated" ones! The
rider lists are available in the relative page of the
"Fantasy Games" section.
Riders - Selection
Players have to pick:
1 rider belonging to the "A" Category;
2 riders belonging to the "B" Category;
3 riders belonging to the "C" Category;
3 riders belonging to the "D" Category;
Trade Teams - Selection
Your choice is not limited to riders only. You will have to select also 3 of
the Trade Teams taking part in the 2004 Tour. In the
"Trade Teams" pages of the "Fantasy Game" section you can find the complete list
of Trade Teams, divided in two categories:
"A" and "B."
In this case you have to select:
ONE TEAM belonging to the "A" Category;
TWO TEAMS belonging to the "B" Category.
Substitutes (for Riders only)
As any last minute changes might turn any of your selected riders into a
nonstarter, you'd better pick a reserve for each
category so that they can take the place
of
the chosen riders who would not take part in the TdF. Of course any eventual
nonstarters would be replaced only by
(eventual) reserves belonging to their own category (so if your "A Cat." man
doesn't take to the startline, but you didn't pick
any replacement rider in the same category, you'll play with a riders less,
regardless of the B, C or D reserves you
choose). And this is only before the Tour gets underway, as any riders dropping out of
the race after the Tour kick-off will not be
replaced.
Registration
Once you have completed your virtual team by picking your 9 riders and 2
trade teams, just ENTER YOUR TEAM following
the rules available in the "Registration Rules" page.
Other Details
Points
Thanks to the results of your selected riders and teams, your "virtual team"
gets a number of points, awarded after each stage
(Stage results, General Classification, other Classifications) as well as at the
end of the Tour de France itself (Final GC and
many other classifications). Besides that, the TOP 3 Virtual Teams of each
(Virtual) stage are awarded some "bonus points"
too. Further details are available in the "Scoring System" section.
Classifications
All Stage Results and Classifications of your "virtual teams" will be posted
after every Stage in the "Just in" (top) section of the
Daily Peloton (www.dailypeloton.com).
Tie-Breaking Rules
1. FOR THE TOP 10 PLACES - In case two or more teams end on the same number
of points, either in a stage, overall or
minor classification, the consequent tie would be broken according to the
following factors (again - they apply to STAGE,
OVERALL and ALL Classifications):
A) The number of points earned by the RIDER with the highest score inside the
virtual team roster;
B) In case the best rider is the same, or just got the same score: the number
of points earned by the TEAM with the highest
score;
C) In case both the best rider and team are the same, or just got the same
score: the number of points earned by the by the
RIDER with the SECOND BEST score inside the virtual team;
D) In case the SECOND best rider is the same, got the same score: the number
of points earned by the RIDER with the
SECOND BEST score inside the virtual team;
E) In case the best THIRD best rider is the same, got the same score: the
number of points earned by the RIDER with the
THIRD BEST score inside the virtual team ... and so on until the NINTH best
rider, and eventually the SECOND and THIRD
best team.
F) In the event equality still persists, the tie will be broken according to
the TIME of REGISTRATION of your Virtual Team
(the earlier you sent it, the better...)
2. FOR ALL OTHER PLACES - the tie will be broken simply according to the TIME
of REGISTRATION of your Virtual
Team (the earlier you entered it, the better place you get ...)
Lesser Classifications (Points, KOM)
Just like in the past Fantasy Tour de France and any other Fabio's Fantasy
Games, the daily points reserved for the Top 3
riders in the Points and Mountains Classification are part of the overall score
of the riders themselves and any Virtual Teams
featuring them. But besides that, they also count for two MINOR CLASSIFICATIONS
(Points, King of the Mountains),
whose respective winners also will be awarded a prize for their victory. More
details available in the Scoring System section.
